Do people still use paper maps?
I love paper maps, I know we live in a digital world now and with a click we can get directions which I agree is very handy. But there is still something special about using a paper map.
As an only child I remember sitting in the back seat entertaining myself with the Australian Road Atlas.
When I was a Cub Scout Leader, teaching how to read a paper map was always one of my favourite nights.
I’ve got a map that I’ve had forever that I document my travels on. And a years ago I upgraded to a beautiful HEMA laminated one that lives permanently on the wall.
Do I look at it, yep every day!
This isn’t just a map with towns, roads and numbers.
This map is a story of my life. It’s got markings for where I was born, everywhere I have lived, and every main road I have travelled on. Every new black line is a new experience and a new chapter in the story.
So on the eve of the next road trip I have a few roads I’d like to change colour of and add to my mapped story of my life.
Let’s see how many we can get….
