To travel or not to travel

Welcome

That was the question last weekend, it was a long weekend, Australia Day and being a proud Aussie I had plans to go away.

The possibility of the arrival of Tropical Cyclone Kirrily had me questioning whether to go.

Thursday night I was still debating what to do.

It’s path was north of me, the bad weather usually comes south, the were predicting high rainfalls. There was enough media hype that there was no bread or milk within 400kms either side of its path.

The weekend was coming off my first week back at school, working a high school this year was a whole new experience. Tired and not knowing what would happen with the weather, I decided to stay home.

In retrospect the cyclone was a fizzer, it was sunny and hot and would have been fine to go away.

So instead of travelling, I finished writing and publishing my book that was essentially about my travels over my life.

It’s just a short story, but covers all the states I’ve lived in and plans for the future.

Would it be better if it were professionally written? I’m sure of it. But the idea was for me to learn how to make ebooks and I needed a topic. They said to choose a topic easy to talk about. So it was a no brainer for me!

What did I learn from this experience.

⁃ I’ll never get over being able to travel, I love it so much. And I’m so lucky to have been all the places I have.

⁃ Print books in colour are expensive, so I’m not sure my paperback travel guide idea will work unless I go with ebook only.

⁃ Ebooks are easy to get onto kindle, and much harder on other retailer sites.

Here is the link to the ebook in Amazon if you are interested, I’m still waiting for the Kobo and Apple Books to come live.

The Book about a Book: You too can follow your dreams you just have to believe you can. eBook : Ducks, Venturing: Amazon.com.au: Kindle Store
